Motherwell boss Terry Butcher has signed a two-year deal to become head coach at A-League champions Sydney FC.
The ex-England defender said: "I had four wonderful years at Motherwell and I leave Scotland with good memories.
"However, football in Australia is taking giant leaps forward and I am looking forward to being part of it."
Butcher, 47, will replace Pierre Littbarski, who failed to agree a new contract Down Under, and the new season begins on 27 August.
Sydney chairman Walter Bugno was delighted to have secured the services of the former Ipswich and Rangers star.
"We go into this relationship with a lot of confidence that the league trophy is going to stay at Sydney for a long time to come," he stated.
Butcher won 77 caps for England and featured in three World Cup tournaments.
In 1980 he made his England debut in a 2-1 win over Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground, which is adjacent to Sydney FC's stadium.
