The Academy of Music in Warsaw is the oldest and biggest school of music in Poland and also one of the oldest in Europe. In 1810 (the year of Chopin's birth) Wojciech Bogusławski founded a School of Drama. The school, meant for theatre actors and singers, was transformed into a college of music under Jozef Elsner, a well known composer, conductor and teacher of among others Frederick Chopin. The Academy is proud of its alumni, eminent musicians and composers, among whom Frederick Chopin was the greatest.
