The capital's tram line will serve two new stops from Sunday.

From 11 September onwards, the tram will extend its route beyond the capital's central train station with two additional stops: "Leschte Steiwer/Dernier Sol" and the "Lycée Bouneweg" interchange. After crossing the Büchler bridge, the expansion of which was a major project in recent years, the tram will branch off to the right, along the newly-named Boulevard de Kyiv.

After a 1.2km stretch, the tram will stop at the secondary school in Bonnevoie, just in time for the start of the new term.

In order to celebrate the extension, Luxtram held games and activities in the area on Saturday 10 September, from midday to 6pm.

The line now has 17 stops, stretching from Kirchberg to Bonnevoie. Two more sections are still to be developed:

  • from the Lycée de Bonnevoie to the Cloche d'Or
  • the Luxexpo in Findel

If the rest of the work goes smoothly, Luxtram should be able to transport its passengers all the way from the capital to Findel airport in early 2024 .
