Thương mại Việt Nam – Hoa Kỳ đă có bước phát triển nhẩy vọt sau khi Hiệp định Thương mại song phương giữa hai nước (BTA) có hiệu lực vào tháng 12 năm 2001. Kim ngạch thương mại hai chiều đă tăng từ 220 triệu USD năm 1994 - năm Hoa Kỳ bỏ cấm vận kinh tế đối với Việt Nam - lên 1,4 tỷ USD năm 2001 - năm trước khi BTA có hiệu lực - và đạt gần 7,7 tỷ USD năm 2005, trong đó xuất khẩu của Việt Nam sang Hoa Kỳ đă tăng nhẩy vọt từ 1,026 tỷ USD năm 2001 lên 6,522 tỷ USD năm 2005. Năm 2005, Hoa Kỳ đă trở thành bạn hàng nhập khẩu lớn nhất của Việt Nam, chiếm 20,2% tổng xuất khẩu của Việt Nam. Following the lifting of the US trade embargo against Vietnam in February 1994, the diplomatic relations between the two countries were re-established on July 12, 1995. The significant milestone that marks the full normalization between the two countries is the ratification of the Bilateral Trade agreement. In 2005, Vietnamese merchandise exports to the US grew to US$ 6.522 billion, an increase of 26% over the previous year while the US domestic merchandise exports to Vietnam reached around US$ 1.1151 billion, up 2.6% as compared with 2004. In 2005, Vietnam became the 44th biggest exporter to the US and while the US market has become the biggest importer for Vietnam, accounting 20.2% of its total exports. more....
