This Group provides a forum for those involved in all aspects of the wide range of avionics and mechanical systems on both civil and military aircraft. The activities of the group cover the related interests of the airframe, engine, systems and equipment manufacturers during design, test and manufacture, as well as the in-service aspects of operation and maintenance. The Group holds a number of conferences each year, many of which are organized jointly with other RAeS groups or other organisations, taking into account the interactions between these systems and other aerospace disciplines. Past conference topics have included developments in aircraft icing protection, avionics for advanced combat aircraft, reducing the hazardous effects of on-board fire and explosion, overcoming electronic component obsolescence, improving aircrew situational awareness and the design and integration of complex avionics systems.
