HISTORY OF ORGANISATION
History of the organisation : COLCCMA (formerly COLCIA) was approved by IPO (Intellectual Property Office) on August 8, 2006, after five long, arduous years of working with the people involved. We were admitted to IFRRO as RRO member in June 2007.
In the first three years we were severely restricted by the legal framework, which was modified in February, 2010 to allow us some room in seeking mandates from major publishers.
For the years through 2008, our efforts to start the collective management business ended up in many Authorized Photocopy Centers in Tainan, a southern city of Taiwan. But, we were persuaded by the publishers to seek a different approach.
Starting in 2010, our focus has been on:
1) expanding our representation of the publishers, and
2) preparing for an annual-fee based blanket licensing system for universities and colleges.
