Intergovernmental Cooperation

International cooperation
Over the recent years, IFRRO has become a privileged partner for international organisations such as World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)  and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).  IFRRO has NGO Status with both organisations and a Cooperation Agreement with WIPO
WIPO
The WIPO/IFRRO Co-operation Agreement in October 2003, established the framework for closer coordination of actions between the two organisations in the field of Intellectual Property Development and Technical Assistance, especially in developing countries, least developed countries, countries of Central Asia and those of Central and Eastern Europe.
In April of 2005, IFRRO launched a joint publication with WIPO on Collective Management in Reprography.
In October of 2004, IFRRO launched a joint publication with WIPO and CISAC entitled From Artist to Audience  http://www.IFRRO.org/papers/booklet_wipo_cisac_IFRRO.pdf
Programmes of training work have been undertaken by IFRRO in cooperation with WIPO and ARIPO, WIPO and OAPI and WIPO and CERLALC.  These have been  documented in published training material.
UNESCO
On 24 April, 2009 IFRRO was granted Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) status with UNESCO. The cooperation has focused on copyright enforcement activities which have also included IPA and other rightholder organisations. A third Anti Piracy Training the Trainers (APTT) seminar for lawyers, judges, customs and police officers was organised in Dakar (Senegal) 17-20 September 2009 for eight Francophone Western African countries – Benin, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Mali, Niger, Senegal and Togo. IFRRO sponsored representatives from BBDA (Burkina Faso) and BUBEDRA (Benin). IFRRO is working with CISAC and UNESCO on securing financing for a three year APTT programme for Africa, Asia and Latin America.
