Four files deleted in 2014

Hello. These four files were all deleted by Natuur12 in December 2014, because photos were derivative work of copyrighted 3D-artwotk in Finland, which are not in PD (yet). Files were uploaded in fi-wiki, but original or any license was added. So I'm asking somebody with access to deleted fiels to check the licenses, are they (as Commons uploader's other licenses at that time) "self|cc-by-sa-3.0" or did that user use some other license (and what was that).

{{self|cc-by-sa-3.0}} Mchiriku
huh?
File:Sukkula, Pori.JPG, perhaps. --Geohakkeri (talk) 11:25, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

{{self|cc-by-sa-3.0}} Mchiriku

First file was deleted 2014-12-17, all others 2014-12-12.

I'll appreciate if somebody has time for that. Thank you. --Htm (talk) 10:15, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Htm: Per above all self|cc-by-sa-3.0  — billinghurst sDrewth 11:13, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Great, thank you Billinghurst, and sorry for the missing comma. Regards, Htm (talk) 12:17, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

An English Wikipedia editor has raised a concern over File:Hunter Biden and Abbe Lowell in 2023.jpg and its derivatives; please see w:Talk:Hunter Biden#Infobox image and w:User talk:Hammersoft#Copyright violation. The files have been tagged for copyright deletion here since April (Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Born Isopod); ElijahPepe said they were contacting the Library of Congress for clarification but it appears that we do not presently have clear evidence of permission for these files. Can someone please take care of removing these files, and can we update the text of {{PD-CQ Roll Call}}? Ivanvector (talk) 18:43, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

As an update, I did not receive a response from the Library of Congress. This is a matter that the Wikimedia Foundation needs to contact them about. ElijahPepe (talk) 18:56, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The copyright grant in question was for a particular set of photographs. That template itself indicates that "This work is from the Congressional Quarterly or Roll Call portion of the CQ Roll Call photograph collection at the Library of Congress." The LoC website links clarify that the dates the included pictures were taken are 'ca. 1960-2005, bulk 1989-2002' and '1950-2000, bulk 1988-2000'. It would be good to have more clarity for photographs dated 1950-2005, but this particular template clearly cannot be accurately applied to any image more recent than 2005 as the LoC indicates they can't have been in the two donated collections. --Noren (talk) 12:48, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The metadata of the above mentioned File:Hunter Biden and Abbe Lowell in 2023.jpg says that the copyright holder is "2023 CQ-Roll Call, Inc.", and, according to FiscalNote, the company that owns CQ Roll Call Inc., they sell Roll Call staff photographers's work via GettyImages. This particular image, when purchased for documentations, noncommercial websites, etc., starts at $150 (Hunter Biden Dec 13, art.-no. 1845877166). I don't know whether the presence of the metadata indicates that Bremps bought the image and, if so, if using it on WP is legal. The metadata on, e.g., File:Andrew_Cuomo.jpg, one of the images uploaded by Born Isopod, indicates that it is a screenshot. Space4Time3Continuum2x (talk) 10:45, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I did not buy the image, and uploaded it under the impression that it was in the public domain. If it's non-free, we best delete it. Bremps... 17:41, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Note that the files that I listed on the deletion request are not the full extent of the images, as there are still more at Category:PD-CQ Roll Call. reppoptalk 00:21, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
All nominated files, including that of Hunter Biden linked above, are deleted. Bedivere (talk) 02:34, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Guess I should now do a nomination for the remaining ones. reppoptalk 03:34, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please do. If these are in the same situation, they will be speedily deleted. Bedivere (talk) 03:41, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There are some images that I can't find on the LOC website, but were made around the time where the images in the collection. Should I include them or should I do another pass? reppoptalk 03:50, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Nevermind, I think they're just a couple of edge cased that would need more insight on their own, I've nominated the rest here. reppoptalk 04:11, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Bedivere: , I've nominated the last set (made around the time where the images in the collection but not in the collection) at Commons:Deletion requests/Files in Category:PD-CQ Roll Call. reppoptalk 00:31, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
✓ Done deleted Bedivere (talk) 01:13, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As an aside, I think we should modify the text of the license a little in order to make it clear the only the images that are in the collection, or images that have been cropped from images that are in the collection, should be allowed. reppoptalk 23:53, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Edit-warring. —— Eric LiuTalk 22:49, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@'Eric Liu: I don't see any sign of further warring since you took it to a CfD instead of (ahem) being one of the parties to the edit warring. So I'm inclined to leave it alone unless there are further reverts. - 00:47, 13 June 2024 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jmabel (talk • contribs) [reply]

Request file swap

Hello,

Can someone please swap the names of File:Al Khartoum Square in Alexandria - column - Arabic inscription.jpg and File:Al Khartoum Square in Alexandria - column - English inscription.jpg? The file named ...Arabic... is actually a picture of the English inscription, and vice versa.

COM:File renaming#File name swaps says that: "To perform file name swaps, you need the suppressredirect right."

Thanks in advance! Place Clichy 13:47, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

File:Spanische Fussballnationalmannschaft Logo 2010 1star.svg

Would administrator mind taking a look at this File:Spanische Fussballnationalmannschaft Logo 2010 1star.svg? There are two potential issues with the file: (1) the most recent version might be a problem per COM:OVERWRITE and (2) the current and former version might not be {{PD-logo}} per both the COM:TOO US and COM:TOO Spain. I'm asking about this because en:File:Spain National Football Team badge.png uploaded locally to English Wikipedia as non-free content has been tagged for speedy deletion as orphaned non-free use. If the Commons svg version is OK as licensed, then the local non-free file would no longer be needed; on the other hand, if the Commons file isn't OK as licensed, then the non-free would need to be restored to where it was previously being used so as to avoid it being deleted. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:00, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure. It could be the derivative work of a public domain coat of arms. Anyway, I've reverted to the original version. It could be nominated for deletion Bedivere (talk) 06:37, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

File:Flag of Dardania.svg

User AceDouble (talk · contribs) is going on with a pointless edit-war about File:Flag of Dardania.svg. Time ago, I formatted the page and replaced the text [[Category:SVG proposed flags|Kosovo]] [[Category:SVG proposed flags of Kosovo]] with the template {{Proposed flag|SVG|proposed|Kosovo}}, which already replaces and includes those categories, yet the aforementioned user keeps reverting the page since February. I don't see any reason to edit-war about that. Daniele Fisichella 02:23, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
