From Countdown

Hammond in DC either today or yesterday: https://twitter.com/drphilhammond/status/1321779122834649088?s=21 The Doctor 23:35, 29 October 2020 (UTC)

Um. That’s an 8? JohnnyCanuck 00:57, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
Yes, I thought so too. But on the other hand, it's not being denied that he was there by Susie or Rachel, and it's very possible Damian's gone back to 8 letters. The Doctor 03:41, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
Damian has said they've gone back to 8 letters. Writing today's game now. The Doctor 19:18, 5 November 2020 (UTC)

Just a note- think Phil Hammond's games are in the wrong place. They'd have started filming immediately after the finals, which (if it was to follow a typical schedule), would mean that 7 shows have been filmed so far, instead of 10. Spikeg1

I wasn't going to change it though in case anyone had heard otherwise. Spikeg1

So you think that it's 2 more for Levi Roots, and then either Hammond, or 5 then Hammond. His tweet said "today", and I thought it was finals day + 2 days? Also, Spike, you can just type ~~~~ to sign your messages - it's Shift+#. The Doctor 14:43, 7 November 2020 (UTC)
It was my understanding that the three special episodes were filmed right after the finals, so ten episodes across three days, though I could be wrong.--Launchballer 14:50, 7 November 2020 (UTC)
You're definitely wrong - the specials are being filmed (out of sequence) this Monday. The Doctor 14:56, 7 November 2020 (UTC)

I'd just find it a bit odd if Levi was to only do 3 for the finals, and not finish the day off. I'd have thought that Levi would have done 2 for S83, and then Phil would do 5 the next day. The current table suggests that 10 episodes have been filmed already, which I personally doubt would have been the case. Spikeg1 18:47, 7 November 2020 (UTC)

They definitely only filmed four episodes the day they filmed the semi-finals. It's quite possible they're isolating the contestants who travel; I believe at one point they were only admitting contestants within a 50-mile radius.--Launchballer 20:13, 7 November 2020 (UTC)
Spike, in the case of Hammond, it's tweeted on 29 Oct, which is finals day +2, and my understanding is recordings for S83 began the day after finals day. So 5 on day 1, Hammond on day 2. The Doctor 21:36, 7 November 2020 (UTC)

Jenny Eclair recording at the end of the month- https://twitter.com/jennyeclair/status/1325791833096646656 Spikeg1 13:50, 9 November 2020 (UTC)

Right... we're going to have to work out which episodes those are, then! The Doctor 14:01, 9 November 2020 (UTC)

Just as a note- didn't filming for the finals finish on a Tuesday? Spikeg1 20:21, 9 November 2020 (UTC)

They were recorded on 26 and 27 Oct, weren't they? The Hammond tweet is from 29 Oct. The Doctor 21:55, 9 November 2020 (UTC)

Only say that because Hammond didn't specify that he'd been filming on the 29th. Plus, am fairly certain that Leith wasn't after Dr Phil, because I'm assuming that Rory Bremner did 2 shows after Phil in the next filming block (9th Nov), given that he recorded the specials.Spikeg1 15:12, 8 December 2020 (UTC)

Pru Leith filming in DC tomorrow- https://twitter.com/garywillerton/status/1330845651161264128 Spikeg1 13:27, 23 November 2020 (UTC)

Wrong tweet, I think, Spike. The Doctor 14:00, 23 November 2020 (UTC) - changed it, thanks Spike. The Doctor 14:12, 23 November 2020 (UTC)

So what you're saying, Spike, is that the specials filming block was Mon 9 + two prelims? Not sure they filmed anything after the specials? The Doctor 18:57, 8 December 2020 (UTC)

Sorry Rhys- only just saw your reply- will get that confirmed with someone who was there. Gary Willerton said on Twitter that he filmed on the 24th November, which is a fortnight after the previous block and a fortnight before the block they've filmed this week, hence the theory that Leith is in the wrong position, but we'll see....

Gary told me his airdate was 20 Jan, so Leith is in the correct position, one hundred percent. Possibly Hammond in the wrong position and his tweet was on Oct 29, so could be a delayed reaction, and straight after finals day, i.e. on Oct 28? The Doctor 23:38, 10 December 2020 (UTC)

So according to George Armstrong: They filmed Mon 9, Tue 10, Wed 11 Nov. We know that Prue Leith filmed 24 Nov, thus leaving a minimum of 10 days between Hammond and Leith. The Doctor 00:21, 11 December 2020 (UTC)

Seeing as Inverdale's done five episodes rather than four, can we really be sure that Roots also didn't complete his day? It could well be Roots (2, 4-5), Hammond (5, 6-12), Bremner (2, 13-14), Leith (5, 15-21). Could Gary's episode conceivably be Leith's fourth?--Launchballer 00:51, 11 December 2020 (UTC)
The filming dates wouldn't add up if that's the case:
26 Oct - QFs, Inverdale
27 Oct - grand final, Roots
28 Oct - Hammond
Mon 9 Nov - Bremner (3 specials)
Tue 10 Nov - ?
Wed 11 Nov - ?
24 Nov - Leith, airdate 20 Jan
25/26 Nov - ? and Eclair (or Eclair and ?)
The Doctor 00:54, 11 December 2020 (UTC)
Edit: I wonder if they went to 4 in November to ease in Colin? Then it might all add up. The Doctor 00:55, 11 December 2020 (UTC)

Leith 100% correct. Have heard from a contestant for 26 Jan. Rhys

So that's seven episodes between Hammond and Leith. Possibly three and four?--Launchballer 14:00, 23 December 2020 (UTC)
Scratch that, I just checked Radio Times. Levi Roots is scheduled for the 4th, and I'd be very surprised if he isn't also scheduled for the 5th. That leaves five episodes. Now, George Armstrong would presumably have found out that the 10th and 11th had been booked on the 9th, when he filmed, which leaves open the possibly that filming didn't go ahead (possible positive test on the 11th?).--Launchballer 14:47, 23 December 2020 (UTC)
Colin said at the end of the third special that he would return on the 13th.--Launchballer 19:19, 24 December 2020 (UTC)
Yes, I heard that - so no filming on 11th Nov then. So it's all correct now I would think. Rhys 20:18, 24 December 2020 (UTC)

Lockdown III

I'm sure I read somewhere that Nick was due to film his final episodes in mid-February. Is he currently filming, and more to the point is the show still filming?--Launchballer 00:53, 6 January 2021 (UTC)

Damian confirmed in ZoomDown chat on 7 January that they won’t be filming this week (11 - 13 January, presumably). Nick Hewer is shielding, and Colin Murray isn’t available for the next filming block; neither are 2 out of 3 dictionary corner guests and about half of the 15 contestants needed. The series is on screen for definite until 4 March.

It isn’t yet known whether they’ll resume filming during this lockdown or after this lockdown. It’s only the aforementioned week they’re not filming for definite. The series is on screen until 4 March for certain, beyond then, no idea. Mclarenguy22 22:09, 7 January 2021 (UTC)

They would have to resort to repeating regular episodes if filming hasn't resumed by then. Both of the Championships of Champions with Nick in charge were repeated last year. There is nothing to stop them resuming in the next block so long as people are available, as film and TV production is still legally able to proceed.--Launchballer 22:16, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
I think you’re right. I hope I haven’t caused too much confusion. Mclarenguy22 22:54, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
I had it earlier, but now I can't find it. I really hate that I can't get the whole programme's chat replay in one. Was it seven out of fifteen contestants dropped out, or seven out of fifteen contestants could make it? And where roughly within it was it said?--Launchballer 23:53, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
The chat replay takes ages to reload. It’ll be there today. I can’t read what Damian writes in that, though, so I’ll need filling in I guess.... The Doctor (talk | contribs) 05:43, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
Is there another recording block this month?--Launchballer 15:02, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

Host column

Given we have a Lex column despite it always being Susie, and with Nick and Colin due to swap a few times, wouldn't a host column be a good idea?

I take your point but it’s the scalability which is the issue: you have to roll that out to at least every contestant in the Series, then it follows all the returnees with multiple hosts... then what about arithmeticians in Series 1-2, co-hosts in Series 2-3... it’s a huge undertaking which is the problem.
Today’s recap may be after I watch Drag Race, incidentally - fell asleep after the cricket... The Doctor (talk | contribs) 18:45, 14 January 2021 (UTC)

Future Eps

TVGuide suggesting Pasha will be in DC from the 10th onwards. Do we know if this is confirmed (They still say Nick is hosting but have done so for the last month) https://www.tvguide.co.uk/detail/4038333/41041907/countdown

We do know that episode to be the return of Nick, so he will present that one. Programme guides are not infallible; my EPG had Jo Brand as a guest for Episode 6151 rather than Gloria Hunniford. Given that (at the time of writing) Radio Times extends only to the 9th and Channel 4's TV Guide stops at the 7th, I'm prepared to accept that source, and have updated accordingly. I still want to know if there's another recording block this month; the first this month was lost to participant unavailability.--Launchballer 14:04, 28 January 2021 (UTC)

Got some stuff which may be of use... Seems like they are only filming 2 days in each block at the moment. The current block (Adrian Chiles/Jenny Eclair) was only done over 2 days, as confirmed by Adam Latchford last night who is on on Monday. Additionally, Tom Cappleman's wife Ruth filmed on Monday this week with Tanni Grey-Thompson in DC. Tom said that the recording block was done over 2 days too, and that Ruth is on on the 5th March (game 2 of the recording day). https://www.apterous.org/chat.php?base=1611777602&dir=earlier Spike.

That would explain the start of the year, although rather puts my theory that Nick's last episode was on the 4th to bed. Do we know who presented the editions from the 24th onwards?--Launchballer 15:45, 28 January 2021 (UTC)

Think they are all presented by Nick. Spike

In fact, on a second note, I may have actually unintentionally made up the fact about Ruth being 2nd on on the day, but the fact about her being on on the 5th, DC guest etc... is all correct.

Doubt it; Nick shielded during the November lockdown, and is almost certain to have done so during this one. See if you can find out.--Launchballer 20:37, 28 January 2021 (UTC)

Colin's hosting during this current filming block, albeit only for 10 days if I've remembered correctly. His first episode of this current stint is to be broadcast on the 3rd of March - Joey

Nick has had the vaccine now so presumably they may consider letting him out in a few weeks' time... The Doctor (talk | contribs) 15:36, 29 January 2021 (UTC)

I thought they were only recording two days in each block at the moment, hence this week's block would be up to the 16th.--Launchballer 15:55, 30 January 2021 (UTC)

Yes, although I'm not as cued up as some others. The Doctor (talk | contribs) 18:57, 3 February 2021 (UTC)

9 June

How far up to have they filmed? I want to know if they've filmed the episode for 9 June yet and if I can expect a truncated introduction.--Launchballer 06:55, 12 April 2021 (UTC)

I don't think they have, and why would that ep have a truncated intro? The Doctor (talk | contribs) 12:12, 12 April 2021 (UTC)
Prince Philip would have been 100 that day, and may well have been wished a happy birthday - I believe they may have done so with Vera Lynn. But if you say it's not been filmed yet, then it's a hypothetical question.--Launchballer 12:25, 12 April 2021 (UTC)

Next Guide

TVGuide.co.uk has Samira doing 6 eps at least - I find this unlikely, so haven't added. The Doctor (talk | contribs) 16:52, 29 April 2021 (UTC)

Seeding

Think team CD have made an administrative error by stating that Louis is #4, as Adam has stated that his Quarter-Final is on the 21st, which is the 3 v 6 match. Can only think that they've factored in his tie-break score for his overall total.

Update: Adam's just confirmed to me that he was #3, and faced Declan in his QF....

Has anyone been seeded higher by virtue of extra points from a tiebreak conundrum before? Mclarenguy22 18:30, 8 June 2021 (UTC)

Series 74. The Doctor (talk | contribs) 18:46, 8 June 2021 (UTC)

According to the producer, the seeding error is on Countdown’s end. Mclarenguy22 18:59, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
