The Speaker of the New Zealand House of Representatives is the highest officer elected by the House. The position is third most important constitutionally, after the Governor-General and the Prime Minister.

    Directions and determinations covers the funding provided to MPs and political parties. These include the salaries, superannuation, accommodation and travel for MPs. Some aspects also apply to former Prime Ministers and MPs' families.

    Press Gallery members are provided facilities at Parliament including a gallery above the Speaker where they can watch the proceedings in the House. To become a member of the press gallery, journalists must apply to be accredited to the Chair of the press gallery and then to the Speaker.
